Kirk McDermott | Compass Counseling

Kirk received his Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked in multiple settings including a psychiatric hospital, an alcohol and drug rehab center and in private practice. Kirk has a specialization in Christian Sex Therapy and Sex Addiction Therapy. Kirk has worked on the Master’s and Johnson’s Sexual Trauma/Compulsion Unit at River Oaks Hospital in New Orleans and is currently on staff at Bethesda Workshops , Nashville. Kirk is trained in EMDR for trauma resolution and is a CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist). He is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health.

Sexual addiction is a complex addiction but there is hope! As a trained Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT®), Kirk has completed training developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes which required attendance at multiple training modules and supervision with a CSAT Supervisor. It also requires ongoing education so that CSATs such as him are experts in providing sexual addiction therapy. It is a rigorous process designed to help him best help you.
